20 Days Until Spring! (and a Flock of Bluebirds Has Arrived!

All week long I have taken all moments of free time to needle felt and replenish my Etsy shop with bluebirds!
My Bluebirds on Etsy:
Then as I was browsing the craft store, I saw a package of alligator clips and thought maybe they would be good for the birds.  Not sure which way is really better, but I went with the clips on this bunch.  Which then created the need for feet...so I needle felted those.Prior to this flock, I had attached bendable wire feet that would allow the bird to perch on things.  It was a four step process to make them: first, bend wire into shape, then cover with flexible glue, add flocking and paint. It would give the feet a textured look and allow for a little movement.
So after a whole week of bluebird....

......after bluebird....

................after bluebird.....

...I feel like needle felting some other type of critter.  Perhaps a deer...or a skunk....or a bunny! :)
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend...HAPPY FRIDAY!

Thoroughly Modern Me: And the Winner is.....ME!!!

I couldn't believe it when I was contacted with the awesome news that I won the giveaway from the charming blog called Thoroughly Modern Me.
In celebration of her first year of blogging, Tricia had her first giveaway and I was the lucky recipient of one of her vintage aprons from her Etsy store!
Please check out her adorable vintage inspired children's aprons. What a great gift idea, don't you think?Instead of the usual toy that gets forgotten, why not an adorable apron!?
While you're there, peruse her older posts (a mini apron tutorial! musings on the cute and timeless blanket stitch!) and you';ll be immersed in vintage collectibles and fabulous finds!

My Descent into Chicago

I was on a plane last Thursday, flying to Chicago, and obviously bored. What follows are the  photos I took at different points in the trip. At times the clouds looked like solid landscapes, at other times the sky looked like an ocean complete with a shoreline. I also caught Chicago looking rather dreamlike, appearing through the clouds in a wispy, dreamlike castle.
