Kewpie Had a Little Friend Named Doodles the Dog
Hello All! Just wanted to share a custom request I received from a customer for Doodles, the dog who was friends with Kewpie.
For those of you who aren't familiar, the Kewpie was a creation by artist Rose O'Neill in 1909. It was a baby-like, cupid-like elf that started as a cartoon but grew in popularity as a doll.
Here is the cartoon I used for inspiration:
There were other renditions of Doodles, which was actually a French Bulldog, and here's some other images:
So as you can see, Doodles can look a little different from time to time, but generally he's CUTE!

I WON! I WON FELTING STUFF!!!
Hey Friends! I'm so excited I just have to share! :)
Remember the poodles I just posted about?
Well, for those of you who don't hang on my every post, (ha!) I received an order for 10 big poodles (5 pink, 5 white) that would be in centerpieces for a baby's 1st birthday party.
Soooo, anyway, I misjudged the amount of pink wool roving I would need to complete the 5 pink poodles. I had to place an "emergency order" for "CUPCAKE" colored roving. I called the very nice folks at LIVING FELT and they helped me out with my
Pink Poodle Predicament!
I received my pink roving in time to complete the order, and it all worked out!!! YAY!
So I posted pics of the final product on Living Felt's Facebook page, to let them know how they helped me out. By posting pictures on their page, I was automatically entered in a drawing for a gift certificate to Living Felt's awesome online store, a wonderful place full of what fellow felters covet: beautifully colored FUZZ (aka wool roving) and all the tools of the trade.
I WON!
Please check out LIVING FELT
and like their facebook page too!

Girly Girl Deer
If you're an artist, you know when your subject leads you in an unexpected direction. I always follow where I'm led....it often leads to places that I never would have headed. But the subject knows what it wants to be!
This deer is just an ultra-feminine deer that would not be held back. She insisted on a skirt and bow and her delicate legs look like she might just be a great dancer too... :)

A Different Take on the Bluebird of Happiness
So I've made lots of bluebirds for my Etsy store in the last year and a half....they seem to be the most popular needle felted creations in my shop, and each one looks different and unique. But I thought I would attempt a more traditional looking bird while still holding on to the vintage look and feel.
"A bird in hand is a dirty hand."
lol
Okay, that's not exactly how it goes...

I do like how this one turned out... but I guess I'm partial to the more vintage Lefton style ones I make.

Thank you for stopping by!
